Faith Meets Fashion

Hey!! Let’s discuss fashion and how it has evolved since I began my journey with Jesus. For me, fashion goes beyond what I wear; it's a vibrant reflection of my identity and a canvas for my creativity. Over the years, my enthusiasm for fashion has taken some exciting turns, particularly as my relationship with Jesus has grown deeper. Initially, I focused on whatever I found cute and flattering, and I had no hesitation in grabbing that hot pink two-piece mini skirt set from the mall. Don't get me wrong, I had boundaries on what was excessive and what I could "get away with." However, as I got to know Jesus better, my entire outlook on fashion transformed, and it continues to evolve as I grow into the woman I'm becoming.

Fashion with a Purpose

I came to understand that fashion is not just about appearance or following trends; it's about how we present ourselves as men and women of God and the values we uphold. I began to appreciate the significance of modesty and staying true to myself in my clothing choices. With Jesus guiding my style decisions more each day, I learned to embrace looks that genuinely reflect who I am, rather than just chasing the latest fashion trends. As I mentioned earlier, the Lord is continually shaping me into the woman I'm meant to be, and he's with me as I discover my boundaries as a modest woman.

Modest doesn't mean boring

PLEASE understand that modesty doesn't equate to being BORING! In fact, as I embrace modesty and push the limits on my creativity, I've discovered the extent to which I can expand my creativity. Fashion isn't about adhering to trends but truly embracing your personal style and what resonates with you. I absolutely love that fashion knows no limits! Describing my style is a bit challenging, but I'm all about colors and accessories, and I'm always open to experimenting with new things. One day, I might resemble a college student, and the next, I could exude a first lady vibe, lol. It all hinges on my mood, and from there, the possibilities are endless! Before your next shopping trip or online shopping spree, ask the Holy Spirit to guide your choices and reveal the beauty of fashion as you explore new options. I promise it's more fun than you think, lol, as Jesus once told me while I was driving down the street... you can be fashionable and HOLY. I'm not kidding; that's what the Holy Spirit told me.

Scriptures to Guide Your Journey in Faith and Fashion

I always aim to provide scripture to support these blogs! Please enjoy these and study them as you embark on or continue your journey of Faith and Fashion..

1 Timothy 2:9-10

Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

Matthew 5:27-28

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”

How beautiful is it that you incorporate God into something that is uniquely you. While others may find fashion as the mundane, We know that Fashion is a form or artistry and a way to create something that is unique to us and how we express it to the world. Believe it or not, we make a cognitive choice to choose the items that we are going to wear everyday (some more than others lol) just like we have to make a conscious choice on choosing Christ everyday!!!! Everyday!?!?! Whew! , but God wants to be in partnership with us In every capacity. ! And I love the fact that you made it plain to both older and younger generations…
