Have you started ending your relationship with procrastination yet? I hope you have, because it can't join us on our journey, darling.

On this blog, I want to address why you could be dealing with procrastination and some tips on how to shake it off!

Every one of us has a purpose given to our lives, regardless of what the enemy might try to make you believe (Jeremiah 29:11). The enemy's role is to divert us from completing the tasks the Lord has assigned to us. It's wonderful to have a friend in Jesus, as He guides us when we are being distracted and reveals the specific tools the enemy uses against us.

In today's society, we are surrounded by numerous distractions, which have conditioned us to focus less, especially when considering social media. We produce reels and shorts that are just 10-12 seconds long. As creators, we know that if the initial seconds of our content don't capture the audience's attention, it won't attract viewers. Being part of Generation Z, our average attention span is only 8 seconds... 8 SECONDS!

This study alone highlights the numerous distractions we encounter today as followers of Christ. Naturally, it's simpler to browse through several social media platforms than to spend an hour reading the KJV Bible. If we're diverted from our duties and God-given purpose, then the enemy has achieved his goal. However, I serve a MIGHTY God who foresaw Satan's schemes against His children.

Here are four tips to help you stay focused :

  1. FASTING & PRAYING!!!

Believe me, child of God, when I hear or see this word, my flesh trembles, but that's the point! We must deny this flesh; there's no way around it. As my dear Jesus said in Matthew 26:41, "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." God, wrapped in flesh, literally told us that the flesh is weak! We must understand that this flesh is not our friend, and when we try to befriend it, we WILL fall into temptation. If you're new to fasting, take small steps. Try refraining from something you find comfort in, whether it's eating sweets, doom scrolling, or drinking coffee, for a few hours. Please understand that during this time, it will be difficult, and your flesh will not be happy, but again, that's when we know we are doing something right. YOU GOT THIS!! I belive in you.

  1. Determination.

We need to be serious about our purpose; otherwise, the enemy won't take us seriously either. As we strengthen our relationship with Christ, scripture advises us not to conform to this world but to be transformed by renewing our minds. By seeking the Lord, we will find Him (Matthew 7:7-8). That is the solution, my friends—seeking Jesus! When we concentrate our thoughts on Him and dedicate ourselves to drawing closer to Him, He will direct our paths.

  1. Being around likeminded people.

Believe it or not, you become like the people you surround yourself with. As 1 Corinthians 15:33 says, bad company corrupts good character. Spend time with those you aspire to be like! In my journey with Christ, I've had to let go of many things and people. Has it been challenging? Absolutely. However, as I mentioned earlier, when you become committed to your purpose and mission, you'll soon realize that not everybody can accompany you!

  1. Stay the course

Keep pushing forward! One thing about Just A Girl & Jesus, also known as Chloe' Alexander, is that I am here to encourage you. With all my heart, through blood, sweat, and tears, I urge you not to give up! Someone out there needs what you have to offer. You are worthy, wonderfully, and fearfully made. I speak to those battles in your mind that tell you not to press play—you have what it takes. Yes, you, the one reading this. You've got it! From your sister in Christ, I encourage you to sit with Jesus and let Him guide you. No distraction can compare to the God we serve. As Paul instructed Timothy in 2 Timothy 4:7, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day." We will continue this good fight and not grow weary of doing good, for our reward is in heaven.

Until next time, remember that procrastination is simply a form of distraction, and we must recognize the source of these obstacles. It's just fear of realizing your true potential, acting as a distraction from your God-given purpose. Love you all!
